Jim jones
Jim Jones was born on May 13, 1931, in Crete, Indiana. Jim grew up during the great depression. His father was James Warren Jones, a World War I veteran, and his mother was Lynetta Putnam. James Warren jones was said to be an alcoholic. He was an only child and didn't get much attention from his parents. He started going to church at a young age. He went to all types of churches -- Methodist, Apostolic, Quaker, etc. He became obsessed with religion. Jim's parents separated and he moved to Richmond, Virginia with his mother. After graduating early from Richmond High School, he got a job at a hospital as an orderly. While working at the hospital he met a nurse named Marceline Baldwin. He married Marceline in 1949. Jim and Marceline then moved to Bloomington, Indians. They later adopted nine kids. Their kids were Suzanne, Jim, Stephanie, Jim Jon, Timothy, Lew, Agnes, John, and Stephan. In 1952, he was a youth pastor at a Methodist church. Jim later decided to start his own church, the Peoples Temple.
